RESUME
Dr François Vernadat is a French and Canadian citizen. He defended his PhD thesis in 1981 and then has been a research officer, first at the National Research Council of Canada (NRCC), Ottawa, in the 80’s and then at the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA), France, in the 90’s. In 1995, he has been appointed full professor at the University of Lorraine, Metz, France in automatic control and industrial engineering. Since 2001, he has held several management positions in IT departments of the European institutions in Luxemburg (Eurostat, European Commission and European Court of Auditors). His main research contributions have been dealing with manufacturing information systems, CIM, enterprise modelling and integration, enterprise architectures (CIMOSA and CEAF) and systems interoperability (EIF). His recent work concerns industrial performance measurement and management. He has lectured in many countries in Europe, North, Latin and South Americas, China and North Africa. He has consulted several large and medium-sized companies in France and Canada (automotive industry, aeronautics industry and software editors). He is the author/co-author of over 300 scientific papers in journals, conferences and edited books. He is the author of the textbook "Enterprise Modeling and Integration: Principles and Applications" and co-author of the book "Practice of Petri nets in Manufacturing" published by Chapman & Hall. He has been adviser for International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (IJCIM), associate editor for Computers in Industry, International Journal of Production Research, Enterprise Information Systems, Journal of Industrial Information Integration and area editor of Computers and Industrial Engineering. He served several technical committees of IFAC (TC 5.2 and TC 5.3) as vice-chairman, has been a member of IEEE, ACM and SME and he has been chairman/co-chairman and keynote speaker of several international conferences on industrial automation and industrial engineering.

Biographie
François Vernadat est un citoyen français et canadien. Il a défendu sa thèse de doctorat en 1981 puis a été agent de recherche, d'abord au Conseil National de la Recherche du Canada (CNRC) à Ottawa dans les années 80, puis à l'Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA) à Nancy, France dans les années 90. En 1995, il a été nommé professeur des universités à l'Université de Lorraine à Metz, France en automatique et génie industriel. Depuis 2001, il a occupé plusieurs postes de manager informatique dans les institutions européennes à Luxemburg (Eurostat, Commission européenne et Cour des comptes européenne). Ses principales contributions de recherche ont concerné les systèmes d'information de production, le CIM, la modélisation et l'intégration d'entreprise, les architectures d'entreprise (CIMOSA et CEAF) et l'interopérabilité des systèmes (EIF). Ses travaux de recherche récents concernent la mesure et la gestion de la performance industrielle. Il a donné des cours et des conférences dans plusieurs pays d'Europe, d'Amériques du Nord, latine et du Sud, en Chine et en Afrique du Nord. Il a été consultant de plusieurs grandes et moyennes entreprises en France et au Canada (industries automobiles et aéronautiques, éditeurs de logiciel). Il est l'auteur/co-auteur de plus de 300 articles scientifiques de revues, conférences ou chapitres de livres. Il est l'auteur du livre de référence "Enterprise Modeling and Integration: Principles and Applications" et co-auteur du livre "Practice of Petri nets in Manufacturing", publiés chez Chapman & Hall. Il a été adviser pour la revue International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (IJCIM) et éditeur associé pour Computers in Industry, International Journal of Production Research, Enterprise Information Systems, Journal of Industrial Information Integration et Computers and Industrial Engineering. Il a servi plusieurs comités techniques de l'IFAC (TC 5.2 et TC 5.3) comme vice-président, a été membre de IEEE, ACM et SME et a été président/co-président et conférencier invité de nombreuses conférences internationales d'automatisation industrielle et de génie industriel.
